My husband and I bought a small studio apartment in Torcy near Paris in May The rents are now being deposited in Barclays bank France in The France Solutions scheme. However, although we have a permanent deposit of over 3000 euros in the bank , we are being charged 50 euros a quarter for banking services and the bank is doing nothing for us. We have no mortgage payments as we paid for the appartment outright . We haven’t even drawn any money out just deposited money.

I have just found out about leaseback and have been contacted by a company who have a place in Oz en Oisans in Alpe d' Hues. Can anyone tell me if this is a good place to buy and is the skiing good there?

Not knowing France very well I would be grateful of any advise of were to buy, which are the good companies to deal with, and any pitfalls that I should look out for.

Are the selling prices fixed or can you negotiate?

Hi all

I am new to the idea of leasebacks and hope that some of you can assist me with with answers to the following given your experiances. Some may sound daft but I am only on the first rung of the ladder with this

How would you go about finding the view from each apartment?

When would you find out how much natural light is available before your purchase?

The Notary fees appear really high in some of the properties we have looked at, there must be some serious padding there, What is the norm ?

Hi - I am just trying to get my head around the small print before investing in leaseback. I have a small concern regarding what happens at the end of the lease period following something I have read on another site. I know that because you are the freehold owner of the property you may choose to not renew the lease at the end of the initial period, however I have read that with some property management companies this is not possible and they will expect you to renew after the first period.

Hello, I need some advice please! I have reserved a leaseback property in the Aquitaine region, and am now making my mortgage applications. However, I was under the impression I could borrow 80% of the total value that included VAT, pay 20% deposit, and pay the VAT back when I got the rebate. Now I'm thinking I may be wrong and will have to fund the VAT myself...which will make things a lot trickier!

Any advice on lenders that will do 80% of gross price, and how to contact them much appreciatd.

i have recently bought a leaseback studio in Torcy near Paris. I am not sure whether or not I or the accountant is to apply for the TVA.I have written to the accountant on two occasions but she does not answer my e mails. I have found that the French do not answer most of the time and when they do they don not reply to the questions asked. I am finding this very frustrating.

Leasebacks in ski areas

I have recently returned from a frantic drive round a few developments and areas in the Alps. Seamus asked me to post some comments, so hopefully this may be of use to others who are looking around.

One thing is certain, the Alps are beautiful wherever you go. I started in Pralongnan la Vanoise, a lovely unspoiled village, great for climbers and walkers. Sadly for me the skiing was limited, although it is a short drive from Courcheval, if you fancy that every day.
